STG Application Requirements

 

In order to be eligible for a SAVMA Travel Grant (STG) Award, you must meet the following requirements:

• The applicant must be a SAVMA member in good standing
• The applicant must acquire a minimum of 10 volunteer credits
  • The Volunteer Credit Opportunities are listed on the STG Award Website
• *VM4 students*: Meeting the volunteer points requirement in the VM3 year satisfies the point requirements for STG applications in the VM4 year. (i.e., students will not need to earn additional volunteer points in the VM4 year if they were eligible for an STG award as a VM3.)

** Don’t remember your SAVMA ID # or whether or not you paid your dues? **

• Search SAVMA@avma.org in your email and your old membership confirmation should come up with your ID number in it. Use that number to log in and pay your dues

 

Eligibility

1. Students may apply more than once, but the applications must be for different conferences
   1. For example, if a student is denied an STG award for a conference, they remain eligible to apply for a different conference that same year.
2. Applicants may receive travel funding to attend a professional meeting as a presenter or as a non-presenter, or as a VM4 participating in a preceptorship/externship.
3. Applicants may receive travel funding to attend a professional workshop that provides experiences not available at ISU.
4. Applicants will not receive funding for required academic activities unless it is a preceptorship/externship.

 

General Information

1. Incomplete, late, or duplicate applications will not be considered for funding.
2. The deadline for an application is 5:00 pm on the 15th of the month prior to the month of the conference. 
   1. If the deadline falls within winter or summer break, or confirmation of the event is received later than the deadline, applications can be submitted no later than one week prior to the event.
3. It is in an individual’s best interest to apply as soon as possible and at any time prior to the deadline.

 

Acceptable travel receipts are limited to:

1. Registration fees
2. Wetlab fees
3. Hotel fees
4. Airline fees
5. Gas Reimbursement
